I've done something stupid, please help :(

Now, here are a couple of pics of what was left. Take note of the cirlced area as it was torn off and remains somewhere in the drive. Also, keep in mind that one side is sticky.

Ze only way to get rid of zat paper is to open the drive, but this also mean voiding ur warranty :(

Hey wedge,

It may seem shaky, but here is what you do. SSSSHhhh this is an inside tech secret

Call TDK for a cross-ship or advance RMA. They will take your credit card number to guarantee you return the defective drive and they should immedientaly send you a new drive. When you have your new drive in hand find an old 16volt 1.5 amp power transformer in a drawer or so. Now cut the connector end off and strip off about 3/4" of insulator. Now take the two ends across the IDE interface and POW! dead drive. The 16v 1.5amp transformer has been the best I have found. Plenty of punch and it doesn't leave any marks.

This trick also works for motherboards, video cards and wedding receptions.

:)

:p
"SSSSHhhh this is an inside tech secret"
"This trick also works for motherboards, video cards and wedding receptions."

This trick also "don't" works no more for ... everything....."POW"!

...

Hi jorel :)

I decided to leave it alone as long as it works. Beleive me, I'll post back if a problem arises, but so far so good :)

*keeps fingers crossed*

ok Wedge, :)

don't need to "keep fingers crossed".

as long as it works, the paper is out of mechanical parts and in
the eletronic board don't cause any problem.

;)

Ok, resurrecting an old thread here......

I just want to let everybody know that this burner is still working and working like a dream. It hasn't given me any problems since the paper got stuck inside somewhere, and that was over a year ago.

(Also, I'm still using burnatonce :D )

cool I REMEMBER this thread wedge lol :)

HAS IT BEEN that long !?

posted 29-03-2003 lol :)

just goes to show how Resilient some hardware can be :)
