i was wondering how to insert pictures into my posts.

(i dont mean the avatars)
cheers for any help.:)

All you need to do is-

- Click on "Post Reply" for an existing post or "New Thread" if you want to start a new thread.
- In the message composition window that pops up, search for the "IMG" button above the text area.
- Click on the IMG button.
- It pops up a dialog box asking you to enter the URL where the images is located.
- Enter the URL and your done.

I have tried it with the site's logo -

- LF

Also ATTACHing an image file will work, but it consumes forum server bandwith, where links to external images do not.

Many free webhosts will not allow "remote linking", so images stored there do not display in forums (often showing a "Image hosted at ......." banner instead)

Boomspeed
http://www.boomspeed.com/
Do seem to allow remote links - and while 1 Mb for free ain't exactly generous, including large images in forum posts is a bit unfriendly to dialup users.

Oops!
"Use of Boomspeed for linking to anything other than auction images is restricted to Charter accounts only. Only charter accounts may be used for linking images to chat boards, websites, hosting of web pages (other than non- commercial support pages), etc. eBay ME pages, eBay chat boards, eBay message boards and eBay forums (this has been clarified to eliminate any misunderstandings, on 11/3/02) are considered auction usage and such linking is allowed with FREE accounts. Free accounts may also be used to host: Help, Support, Docs and Educational pages which do not consume a reasonable amount of resources. "

Maybe the forum users have PAID (charter) accounts, though I hardly think everyone sticks by that!

JPEG works well for photo or similar images
GIF or PNG works better high detail/block colour

but I can't insert an image! tried already for a mio time. ok, I click post reply and then wrap the image address with the img tags, but the result is a simple link to the image, not the image displayed in the forum. So how do I get it displayed??!!

php don't worry to much many members have problems for the moment it would seem.
Yet another BUG since the update of the forum, once it's been taken care of we'll let you all know..sorrry M8.
:(

It worked pretty well there!

And there you see several of the problems...
Too many of those (and I picked the 640x480) will add download time, spread out the thread to a massive scroll, and impose a load on the hosting site.

There ARE image hosts around....
1. http://easypichost.com/ (5000 free credits, images <5k free) - otherwise 1 credit per 35k viewed (or part of) - so the 5000 credits, on a 70k image, will last you 2500 page-views - not ideal

2. http://www.pyxz.com - 50 images (free) linking allowed - from the "No watermarks" on paid version, it sounds like they may watermark in the free.

Heck, I'm just reading them from HERE

Now I'm off to get a 1024x768 of that FAB wallpaper! - It'll give me an incentive to clean up the ICON GRAVEYARD that passes for my desktop!
