Hi,

I want to get a DVD Burner but not quite sure what to look out for, etc... I'm after getting one reasonably quickly so any quick feedback would be appreciated!!!

I saw an offer in my local PC store for this : http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0062748631.1093301888@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccjadcmgdefldkcflgceggdhhmdgmh.0&page=Product&sku=319683
I thought it was too good to be true... a DVD Burner for under £50!!! So I thought I'd come on here and get some advice.

Basically I want to get one so that I can backup my PS2 games and also DVD's and maybe AVI, MPEGS, etc... as well as using it as a storage device for data.

Would the DVD Burner in the link above be any good or can anyone recommend another for a reasonably low price, under £60 say???

Thanks people

Paul

YES get a PIONEER 107 about same price and avoid PC-WORLD they suck for prices and advice :)

theres lots of places u can get a 107 dirt cheap one place being SVP (aka blank disk shop) £49.98 inc vat :)

Sessioned link at PCWORLD... The drive in question (319683) - Pikaone 8x (8x +R, 4x -R, 4x +RW, 2x -RW, 40x CD-R, 24x CD-RW) appears to be a straight rebrand of a BTC DRW 1008IM.

Not quite as cheap, but the Boxed Pioneer A07XLA has quiet drive technology that the OEM 107 lacks, and comes with software.

The NEC 3500A is a drive people are getting excited about - well, with 16x +/- and 4x on DL, it's worth getting excited about.

Then BTC go and storm in - but I'll post that elsewhere - it's an interesting time, and I jumped too soon!
