I think I'm going mad?

What exactly is accomplished by re-entering the serial number?
when you installing Nero from your bundled CD, you get only an crippled Nero driver for your bought CDRW; when you update this bundled Nero version, you don't update this driver; maybe you are missing some improvements;
so uninstall you bundled version; install the latest, stabled demo; register it with your bundled serial and maybe your problems are gone;

I have a second question. Why would I receive a crippled driver? I bought a TDK CDRW drive bundled with Nero and that's why I am asking. I mean, this should be a fully functional Nero, right?

first of all, it's only a try and not the ultimate solution for any Nero problem;

yes it should work with your bundled CDRW; Is Nero 100% bug free? probable not; ;)
your bundled driver will not been updated during normal Nero updates; old driver <=> new Nero version - sometimes it isn't fully functional;

Well here I am, back again, to report success (partial)
The Nero as supplied with the drive is now installed and working.
I don't know what went wrong with the first install but after uninstalling and searching through Windows and the registry for all remaining files and deleting them the next install worked.
The software sees both the 54x reader and the 52-24 Liteon.
Unhappily the same can't be said of the NTI V 5?? upgraded to the next V 5?? (the last before V 6)
The CloneCD that I put on as well saw both drives but didn't want to work very well so that had to go as well.
Someone did post that perhaps the software I had was too old for this new drive and I guess that was the main problem.
So now we have the Nero and Burnatonce on and working and although I don't like Nero I can't afford to buy new software every time I get a new drive otherwise I would go for the new NTI CD-maker 6 Platinum.
Grateful thanks to all of you who posted a reply for this problem.

@Geoff, glad you have it sorted. I think both Burnatonce and Nero are great choices and between the two you can accomplish most burning tasks.

@Duracell,

Point understood. I just went to the TDK website and it is THERE, not Nero, from which to download any updates that might quash TDK/Nero bugs (or introduce new ones, lol).

Tried what u said Duracell.It let me burn 1 cd at 48x reliably & the next 1 just kept failin no matter what speed i tried 10x12,24,32x48x.Really startin 2 get fed up with nero, only usin it cause it came bundled with drive.Any 1 know if easyCD5 works wit artecWRR4848Version of nero im usin is 5.10.7b.Any further help appreciated.Thnx

sorry banzibaby, i have no other ideas yet;
i also have installed 5.5.10.7b; i can simulate 44x without a problem; max. write speed is 16x, because i have only 32x media and my burner (Yamaha F1) can only handle 44x, 16x, 8x, 4x, 1x, no speeds between for writing to CDR;

if you looking for one of the best, stable burning applications, then try Stomp's RecordNow Max;
Beware of Easy CD Cremator!
