I need good software for usable text with scanner

I hope anyone can help me! I've used the software 'TextBridge' in an attempt scan documents onto my harddrive and then be able to manipulate that data. the proble with textbridge that I've use is it is only able to read about 1/4 of the text. The rest is either missed spellings or unrecognizable symbols. Is there a better program for use with a computer scanner? I would appreciate anyone help. Thanks alot

Thanks for in information but, I"ve tried to download from that sight and I get that it is no longer active. I've also found one copy of AFR 5.0 on a waraz sight but I'm unable to download it. I can't tell if I'm doing anything wrong because it's in German and I don't read or speak german. Do you know of any other sights that I can look. Thanks

Try TypeReader Pro 6.0 by Expervision. Excellent for straight text pages, like letters, transcripts etc,, but not that great for forms, or pages with pictures and text

thanks, I found Abbyy fine Reader in english. The problem now is the crack that came form CDRSoft, I don't seam to know how to use. Any suggestions?

erixon, OK sounds good. I'll try it. I have the ScanSoft Paperport software that I use for twain, and it's a good program. You said that the omnipage pro 11.0 is Free???? Please point me in the right direction. Thanks

That one is definitely on my hit list.

If I collected it from a friend, I may have a bin/cue of OP11 that flew by in one of the newsgroups - and Paperport repost was requested there yesterday.

PS. SimpleOCR is freeware - the others are "free - WHERE?" :D

New problem, I think that I figured out why it is so difficult for me to "run the crack." The crack is in a .rar format. My computer apparently can not read .rar It's attempting to call it a document. I have never herd of .rar, is there some way to "run the crack?" I have windows 98SE. Please someone help. I feel that I'm so close yet so far.

erixon, I can't seem to find anyplace that I can get the omnipage pro 11.0 for free. I've checked the paperport web sight and it talks about purchasing it. I've check at the local computer store and they want $150.00 U.S. You said it was free, can you send me a personal message with more inforamtion? Thanks for your help.

I think eriXon mean that he dl.it from a warez site or got it in any other illegal way.Omnipage is no freeware program but i dl.the 10.0 version from a warez site some months ago(cant remember wich)and i think its one of the best.If i wasnt on a slow connection i would send it to you, but i think (cant remember) it was a pretty big file when youre on to modem surfing.
