HP recovery disks

Hi guys just a question and some help.A friend of mine has a hp machine with hp recovery disks.If I should make a copy of the 3 disks will it be possible to load it on any other pc other than a hp propriety branded pc thereby giving me a fully licenced os.Any help will greatly be appreciated.Till laterz:)

Most likely no it won't work. Those recovery cd's are made specifically for your friends machine and BIOS. I have an HP and I tried using recovery cd's from a friends computer who also has an HP... end result was the cd's came back saying this wasn't the right computer for a recovery.

azanian, it is like speed racer says. these cd`s searces info in bios. and yes there are ways of going around this. It was discussed in the forum last week, for Dell machines, it is possible to replace a file (precopy1.cab) or you must rewrite a inf file.
