Hi ,

I'm new to this forum.I've been using HP 9100 series writer.lately it has developed some pblm.

I use Nero 5.5.10.15 and ASPI layer 4.71.

I have been using different media types.

Lastly i tried DATALIFE(some cdr) .I started getting POWER CALIBRATION ERROR.

I got the same error wtith my old writer BENQ 32X10 writer.

So what could be the pblm?

Any suggesstions.

Also m sstem hangs sometimes after booting.Burn at once doesnt support my writer.

hi pal welcome 2 da forum ;)
bao isn't well supported on hp cd writers....had 1 too & couldn't be used on hpcdwriter9100c
try recordnow max or the recordnow max that u can obtain from Hp homesite
how old is ur hp writer?is it clean or dirty inside?

It could be a pain to find media suitable for old burners, indeed- especially since the HP idiots have never released any firmware updates for that burner (it's an OEM Sony 140e, by the way, but cannot be flashed directly with Sony firmware).
I'm having such media compatibility problems lately with a much newer burner (Lite-On LTR-24102b).

Another evil rebranded drive that could be one of about 3.
The expected Sony mechanism, but also reported to be possibly a Goldstar (9100b model), or even a Philips

The only peple who had a more varied rebrand, were Creative ... the drive BOXED as an 8432, could be Plextor (everyone hoped, and that's what built the reputation), a Samsung, a Panasonic - there were FIVE different drives - 8432, 8435, 8435, 8438, 8439 - all supplied at some time in the "8432" box - though the system did identify them seperately
