How to trim an AVI

I've got two AVI's I want to join, which have a short overlap - the first finishes about twenty seconds after the second starts.
Can anyone give me some pointers on how I can trim one or the other so I get a seamless composite AVI.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks, guys.

I've tried VirtualDub, it's a useful prog but it seems to have highlighted what appears to be a problem with my avi's.

The two halves play OK on PowerDVD, but Virtual dub tells me the sound is skewed to the video. If I save from Virtualdub the resulting file has a sound track that's a long way out of sync, I get the impression that the only way of correcting this is to match up a wav file with the uncompressed video [40 Gig files!] but would appreciate any advice on this.

BTW I think the original AVI's are XVID's, I've dowloaded ffdshow on advice of the help file in Easy Video Joiner, but I don't know where to go from here.

Hope you can help. - please...
