Use audiograpper. Select file then line in sampling. for editing clicks use cool edit pro then burn with your favorite program

While I am in basic agreement with pokopiko, I learned from Hudzon's tutorial on the Burning Issues site to burn CD's from LP's. Originally with WinOnCD 3.7 and now with WinOnCD 3.8. I also learned from the site "Transferring LPs to CDR: Some Advice" referenced by pokopiko, and frankly it does go into greater detail.
However from a practical standpoint, Hudzon's advice will result in CD's of exceptional quality, particularly if one stays away from the newer versions of WinOnCD, and the site is more of a basic cookbook. If one is having difficulties, Hudzon will promptly offer assistance, which I found invaluable.
Good Luck! I have now burned many CD's from LP's, some of which were for friends who wished to preserve rare albums cut by family members now out of print.

Vinyl to CD

Don't mess with Audiograbber's line-in... stick to a program meant for the purpose: AudioTools. This is what I use for making WAV/MP3's out of LP's and cassettes. Very versitile, just make sure your line-in and source are good... if like me you use a Sears turntable and a notebook computer with fairly inflexible record level, you wind up needing to raise the treble a bit. :D <br><br>

vinyl to CD

I have a program called singulator that I use to take from vinyl to CD. It works well. You should be able to get a trial fairly easily

Got to remember though that the burning proggie is only a small part of it...if your deck has a crappy stylus on it, or you use cheap cable to connect it to your line-in then the quality will suffer accordingly...if the input to your pc is coming from a £50 midi hifi with built in turntable, the recording is never gonna be as good quality as a decent deck with its own amp/mixer and decent cabling

If your in the UK, richer sounds do a decent range of styli and cables for hi-fi use that can improve things no end....

just my 2c

just to add.since you are going from analog.my advice would be;proggie with volume controll is must-eac or feurio j would prefer, and also if your sound cart is cheaper than 100 us$,go with something where you got chance for eliminanating dc noise, like forge.if you dont have it download demo ,pm me with your computer number and j will send you serial,or j can send you keygen, also if you got crackles or some noise use steinberg clean 3.01,best results with least time-comparing to others(only didnt try magix audiolab-if somebody got it j would be wery helpfull)

boingo is so on the money. When I first started burning CD's from LP's, I purchased a high end magnetic cartridge (audio-technica AT-0C9). This went onto a 25 year middle of the road Sony turntable. This has made all the difference in the world.
Using a SoundBlaster Live mp3 5.1 sound card.
I do have a tweak question:
I use Cool Edit Pro when I record the LP to my Hard Disk. I follow Hudzon's use of WinOnCd 3.8 in cleaning the data and making the CD. Is there a way to burn the CD at a higher volume lever? My CD's are a bit lower in volume compared to a store bought one.
Thanks

First,i used before cool editpro.version 1.2 j think.Thats a good editor(should have input volune control-but j never record anything from outside-line in.But j do remember itsgot vol. meters, when record so you can use that and addit from windo)ws mixer.J can not give you precise answer, cose j dont have it installed on my pc,but check again?????????J think should have vumetres and you can adjust it(should be around 0-but never over-----very important.Byt i cantell you that samplitude wawelab and sf have that and works like charm.J recorded more than 200 records on cd and belive me ----with Sound forge(last version 5.0e)its just fly.You got also plugins for all kinds of noise reductions-just cant gowrong belive me ,unless the source is fuckedup. To make it personal choice,go with sound forge ,record wirh dc effect, use nr if its necessary, and what i like, when its everything ready and you wanna burnit, use steinberg plugin called loudnes maximizer-for nice punch(but make that last thing just before burning)----belive me its gonna be pretty close to perfect.Maximizer use only if you listen something good like deep purple metallica sod slayer,or something shitty like techno crap disco(we are talking personal choice here)--which mean j dont think that you should do that with blues and cllassic--but doesent hurt to try with undo function on.Like Mr. Pokopiko said go to nildram page and check it out;ajso find proggy called wawe corrector,go to links section ad look for andy mcffaden and clive backham (with nildram top 3 resources for what we are talking about).Last thing you asked about volume.Normalisation should always be last thing(best to tieityp with compressor). For 1 file use sf,otherwise use their batch convertor. For fast and almost ???

Sorry ,j got out of space::eek: (looks like its time to finish). For fast and very good results try volume balancer(litlle but powerful proggy),or wawe repair(good soud editor specialised for winnyl-wolume ballancer is init included, but solo vers is much simpler).Guy who wrote nildram page made both proggis(thats why volbal is inc. in wawerepair)..Since jm using these proggys often ,,,logically j have them(all updated to the last and full versions), j dont think there is other proggys which can significiently increase the qyualitu without increase time spend(with proggys said abowe you gonna be able to make 1 to 1 real copy with varius improwment like nr reduction, volume dc,edit all..............................................Also for somethin when you dont have time (but still can come "close"to manual way,try Steinberg---Clean 3.01-fully automated thingie can give good results-compared to time spend with other proggys-you couldtry diff. settings too---sky is the limit. If somebody want j can upload somewhere. Also as j said before--if somebody could answer this????????Did somebody tried to use Magix audiocleaning lab full version????????How is??isit any good?????Is it in class with samplitude 2496?????J tried demo but its so fucking unbelivable reduced with functions-you cant even try??????If somebody HAVE FULL VERSIONS J WOULD REALLY LIKE TO TRY<or if YOU CAN SHARE LINK TO GETIT-----J WOULD BE SO THANKFULL.J just realise now you using edit pro for recording and win oncd for edit.If you dont wanna even try proggys which j was blablabla abowe.please belive me or put new topic and make poll:) :) ;Cooleditpro is way ahead with features (cant even compare to winoncd)and thats 100 percent true---no questions ask.Btw on some warez site (do akibo warez search-warezsearchengine)you can find cool editpro 2.0.its new version and i think but jm not sure that sinternal leak--it was a beta version(maybe you could check their site, official version might come out who knows, couse j downloaded that 5-6 weeks ago, istalled, tryed, big improvents, more in features andsupport compactibility, than look:) ...I deinstalled couse it was beta.but it was pretty stable,as i said check site for more info.Hope tis helping out a bit.And last thing ???:) Follow pokopiko link for samplitude 6.02 ----and try.Harder to learn, but simply everything.,and j think 100 % everuthing, editing, vst dx dxier conversion compression burning, and faster than sf or steinberg;or course you can use plugins from both inside.

And be sure about this....if you dont belive me make a poll:) .COOLeditpro is way ahead in both when compared to winoncd-doesent matter which version........?????Much better for recording to hd and clearly SUPPPPPPERIOr for edit. Now enough of this and try to make something in practice,if you need assistance for apppz post reply here for which proggy......Btw i don t wanna discusion which proggy is better---this is my personal opinion,or we can discussit, but no hard feelings(without f word please).

j just phoned my friend who use coolproand;section wiew check wolume metars,on options show volume metars for playback and recording, also check for dc when you record-feature is there(thatis to eliminate noise from from soundcart)and also you can adjust volume when you record from the cooledit,so you got everything allready.......:) good luck..........
