how can I get the EXACT DOWNLOAD URL?

I'm online with IE6.

The fact is that, though I have GetRight (which I like, after trying so many dl managers), sometimes it happens that it cannot catch the URL of a file I want to download, however much I strive with program options.

For example, to _http://kickme.to/FOSI/ and try, with any dl manager, to dl the FIX-IT UTILITIES.

I guess no other thing but Windows download will start; I tried also with DAP...no way.

Ok, I know some servers don't support the resume feature, but that's not the point.

The point is that I wish I could know the EXACT URL of the Windows download!! As you know you just see the file name, and the 1st part of the URL.

Some people told me Netscape does tell you, always, the complete URL...but I wish I could achieve it in some other ways!

Did you ever find yourself in my situation?
Can you help me?

Are you saying I should change browser? that there's no other way, using IE and some software?
Even with the dos NETSTAT command I just see the 1st part of the URL.
About dl managers, why do you think GR is crap? Have you used it? What's the one you prefer, and why?

Download Managers

I used getright for the last 2 years or so and I thought it was the dogs bollocks!
Then about 3 weeks ago I tried flashget and found out in fact getright was the dogs doo doo!
Flashget seems to catch urls better and has a much easier and efficient interface.
Getright and some other managers seem to be blocked from certain servers but upto now not with flashget.

Works for me!
Give it a bash.

BEST URL CATCHER?!

I heard that FlashGet's got some spyware included..

is that true?

What about NetAnts and ReGet?

I don't actually care about the dl speed.
Though I must admit that GetRight does a good job, as for speed.
When it divides the file in pieces, the system becomes slower, of course.

What i really care about is...I WANNA KNOW WHAT IS THE BEST URL CATCHER out there!

Yep

Flashget does have spyware has do many progs.
I just downloaded ad-aware and removed it (spyware) along with alot of other junk I'd picked up while surfing the net.
Whatever manager u use or if you even dont use any its worth using this prog.

Hi Guys,

Try Naviscope and see if it does the trick for you. With this piece of software I catch 99% of the URL's. Some pages begin to use a function in the HTML to avoid this, but it still works on most of them.

Hi Again Poko,

The version that I'm using, 8.70, never said anything about gator and I asure you I don't have it on my system. Maybe the newer version have this S**t on it. Sorry, I just checked The homepage and foundout that the latest version is 8.69, so it looks like the one I downloaded two years ago is a cracked version of the 8.69. If you want to check it out I put it as an attachment.

download mage (dlmage) will give you the url, it can also return urls when javascripts are used - though only some, less complicated ones.

Ok, to make sure the dl managers you say to be good really are, just try to download, as I pointed in my 1st post upthere, the FIX-IT UTILITIES from the page _http://kickme.to/FOSI

Tell me if you succeed in getting the URL, please!

well download mage reports the url as
_http://64.57.164.73/bennicute/fosi/trial_software/fo-flu4.zip
however u cant use the url directly, seems you need to go thru the fosi page and use the cgi script.

I'll have to give a try to DownloadMage, then.

Now the question is: can you dl the FIX-IT UTs from the fosi page using your dl manager?
Or does it fail, either, and it's the Win dl to start?

@ Shadey: THANKS! DLMage works fine and get the URLs! Then I can dl with DLM itself or paste it to GetRight!

Ah, is there any option in the program which lets you copy the URL to the clipboard, so that you can paste it instead of handwriting?

Though unfortunately no - i couldnt find a way to copy and paste the url myself - i had to read and type it - when i posted the url for fix it utils

I use Flashget & just went to FOSI -right clicked on FixIt-picked
DL using Flashget-my DL is already at 16%---The URL that
Flashget shows :h**p://buyandsave.com/cgi/fosi.cgi?fixit

I've not tested it, but perhaps you will try:

star-downloader from w**.stardownloader.com or
fresh-download from w**.freshdevices.com.

Both programs are freeware.
