Help req burning MDS/MDF files

I have a program which is split into MDS & MDF files although Windows says they are both MDS - one is about 27kb and the other about 761mb. I'm having trouble burning these having only ever used bin & cue files. I have Alcohol 120% but I keep creating blank discs!!!!
What am I doing wrong?

Can you mount the image as a normal CD-ROM in Alcohol and browse its contents?
If you can't then its either corrupt or fake-ola, you may safely bin it.

Im trying to mount the smaller of the two files but its saying file is inaccessible. If i try to mount the larger of the 2 files it freezes my PC up. Does this sound like a dodgy file?

I've managed to get the file to the final screen of the burning wizard but not sure what to select from DAO, RAW SAO etc etc. Which one do I choose?
