** Help.. Problem On *.COM Sites.. **

Hi Friend's

I'm Using FIREFOX 1.0.7 With Windows XP PRO SP2.
The Computer Is Connected To A Router, (NETGEAR WGT624v3). Wired.

When I Load Up Firefox Go On *.com Site It Bring's Up A Message Timed Out.
Major Site Are : - www.ebay.com & www.paypal.com.

I Have Logged In From My Laptop & Other Machine's Seems To Go Through.!
Please Help Me For A Solution. ?

Is a software firewall installed? wrong security settings may block ebay;
How behaves IE on that machine?

I Dont See Anything Unusual.

Can You Point Any Suggestions To Where I Need To Look.
I Have Zonealarm, Firfox...

sorry, i don't have experiences with Zonealarm or Firefox neither; :confused:

try to reset both to default settings;

CHECK FOR SPYWARE or check your hosts file there may be entries in the hosts file of this computer thats blocking .com sites :(

What Program Creates This HOST File.
And What Do I Do.

Do I Delete The Required URL For The Site I Want And Then Save Right.
If So I Delete The Ebay.com & www.ebay.com Now Ebay.com Works.

Did Same With Paypal.com But Not Paypal Not Working.

Hmm... :)

If your hosts file contain the ebay and/or the paypal url and are they listed with the ip 127.0.0.1
Then any quiery to those sites will be redirected back to your computer = they will be prevented from loading.

Yes, simply delete the entries to let your isps dns server provide the correct ip, then save but not use any file extension, just save as HOSTS

It Does Say Changed Made By System Mechanic 6 Which I Have. Trying To Find
Out What Part Does That. Any Ide's. ? :)

Some sort of incorporated spyware protection ?
I dont use it myself, but according to their website screenshot i would guess
its located under the protect tab/button??

SPYWARE mainly or some VIRII/TROJANS by adding the update sites for your common anti-virus programs and even the anti-virus program sites so you cannot download new or different versions of antivirus software :mad:...... i also know that KAZZA LITE ++ adds loads of entries to the hosts file which can be problematic .... other programs can also modify it such as SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY when using the immunize setting but this is what its supposed to do :)

you can also mod it yourself and use it as a sort of pretty basic block script/list to block any sites you do not want anyone else using your machine to access :)

Now Another Small Problem.
I Have FIRFOX 1.0.7 Installed, One Problem Is If I Go To Let Say www.iconbazaar.com.
And I Load Up A Page That Has Animated Gifs. There Dont Work.
This Is Not On This Site It On Every Site I Visit. Even On My Own Site.

Why Is That Happening Please Help ..! :(:(:(
