Ryan....

Hi Ryan,

PC cillin has been around for a long time and is as good as any other anti-virus, but just like any other, it must be kept up to date. If your Grandfather goes to their site and d/l the latest updates he should be ok. I know you like Norton and I personally like McAfee. That's why they make vanilla and chocolate.

Good Luck

Suppose i Like Chocolate.... lol

That is probably what is wrong i dont thing he knows how to update it i will need to show him were and how to get it

thanks rondo

Title:
Manually updating the Pattern File and Scan Engine in PC- cillin 6, 98 and 2000.

Problem:
How to perform manual updating of Pattern File and Scan Engine in PC-cillin 6, 98 and 2000 if the automatic update is not working?

Solution:
To address this issue, perform the following steps:

Using any Internet browser, go to the following URLs:

For Pattern Files: w?w.antivirus.com/download/

pattern.asp
For Scan Engine: w?w.antivirus.com/download/
engines

Download the Pattern File and/or Scan Engine for your
installed version of PC-cillin by clicking the Pattern/ Scan Engine link on the Manual Update page.
Alternatively, right-click the link and choose "Save Target As".
Extract the scan engine file into the PC-cillin directory

(e.g. \Program Files\Trend Pc-cillin 2000\temp in Windows 95/98/ME or \Program Files\Trend Micro\Pc-cillin 2000\temp in Windows NT/2000)
Run tmupdito.exe.

If the pattern file or scan engine was still not updated even

after doing the above instructions, restart the computer.

To run the tmupdito.exe file, perform the following steps:

Click Start > Search > For Files or

Folders...
In the "Named/Search" field, type tmupdito.exe. Make

sure that the "Look In" field is set to the hard drive.
Click "Find Now" / "Search Now" button.
In the search results, double-click the tmupdito.exe

file located in the Trend PC-cillin directory.
The PC-cillin 2000 module update notice window will

appear and display information about the version of all the PC-cillin modules
Click the "OK" button.

Notes:

The instruction above does not apply to

versions older than Pc-cillin 98 (e.g. Pc-cillin 3.0, 95, and 97) because no updates are available for them.
Older pattern files can be deleted. As a
precautionary measure, leave the the one preceeding the latest to serve as a backup.

Ryan you will find that he is using a much better AVP program than you , the only problem is that you must keep it upto date..

First things first

Check if an OEM version. Registered and kept updated. Boot viruses need to be killed by RESCUE DISKS and booted in DOS to kill them. Viruses in CAB files are a toss up.
I am DUM but viruses are like bad girlfriends --- blank blank blank.
