Time to upgrade my matrox G200
What do you recommend??
Radeon, geforce or xabre??

Thx

Depends on what budget you have.....:D

Since I can't efford the bigshots like a Radeon 9700/9800 pro ,TI4600 or cards based on the newest Nvidia chip,I bought an Aopen Gforce 4 TI4200 128 MB myself with DVI connector and video in/out just a few weeks ago for less than 200$......3D 2001 SE benchmark: +/- 10,200 without overclocking...:D

Software package:WinDvd and WinProducer

Ti 4200 is quite close to 100 $- at least here, and when it comes to OpenGL based drivers (eg Linux) it performs much better than the Radeon. Under Windows they are approx. same price/performance.

check for yourself

Do a Google '3D Benchmark software search' and find sites and card info. Might have to go $30 more but can be 100% better. Can wait 2 months and PRICES will be less too.

I have ATI Radeon 9000 64 meg (just came out) and it has run the 3D tests good. I do not play games but the demos were GREAT. The 8500 has some good benchmarks but it all varies.

Agree with scarecrow...the GeForce Ti 4200 is an excellent card that overclocks like a madman. Many of them are pretty close to your $100.00 price range.

If you can wait a month.... the GeForce FX 5200 Ultras will be $135-150. It's a Direct X 9 card 8x AGP and 128mb. Many are seeing it as the successor to the GeForce Ti 4200. The fan is quiet too (unlike it's 5800 brother)!

Here is a good review of it....

Found it!
Six Fx5200's - with a Ti4200 and a Radeon 9200 thrown in for comparison

In 3Dmark 2001, only Abit's miserable card trails the Radeon 9200, with the high clocked examples still being comfortably beaten by the Ti4200

The gap to the Ti4200 closes in 3DMark2001, given that the DX8 card misses the last test. The Radeon 9200 retains the same position, ahead only of the poor-performing Abit.

If you hate fan noise, Inno3D's passive cooling is quite a plus.

Overclocking results tip the relative positions with the Leadtek rising, due to a MASSIVE memory overclock, and the already high-clocked Pixelview losing a couple of places. The Inno3d does not lose out on core overclock, despite passive cooling, but then that is one SERIOUS heatsink!
