got a new mobo but!

got a new mobo for xmas, is there anyway to install it without loosing asll my info. in only have one hard drive 80 gig maxtor but id rather not do a reinstall if possible.if i have to reinstall whats the v=best way to back up what i have fo easy reinstall... thanx and a happy new year to all

the magic word is "migrating"; you need the M$' tool Syspep;

...and have in mind that migration will likely not work when changing such a vital component as the mobo is... but you might be lucky, and the system will go up after 2-3 reboots... just try it.

so i had luck that time, cause my successful move was from VIA KT133A to nVIDIA nForce2;

Yup, guess i was lycky too worked just fine(1st boot) when migrating from abit at7max2(kt400) to my new Epox 8RDA6+ Pro(nforce2).
If migrating to new storage controllers, check out the possibility of adding drivers through the sysprep.inf.

Maybe "luck" is not the correct expression, but such a migration does not work all the time- and more than that it sometimes triggers a new XP activation process.
