Ghosting Xp Home

Sounds a bit fishy to me,but
I was going to buy pc from time computers
that came with XP Home installed but no backup disk.

They tried to hit me for another £50 quid for the
backup disk,As I have nortons ghost 2003 I told them I
didn't need it, And was told it was impossible to ghost it
because of the protection
Sounds like Bulls**t to me but anybody got any ideas

It's put me right of buying from time

You can Backup XP Home...and restore it..as long as you dont make any major hardware changes..that requires you to re-activate XP...but what might get you...is the fact it sounds like its already activated..and to who....I'd think...if they wanted my Money..they need to produce a New Copy of XP..that you can Activate

I thought there was a really big company, can't remeber the name, that got put of business for doing this stuff. It too was a big name on the hstreet. I thought that this stuff was contre le loi.
Anyway, for sure you can backup with Ghost 2K3. But as the guy above says if you change a stack of hardware you will have to reactivate it. If you don't change anything then it'll work fine.

Would not purchase from a company without a disc containing XP

You should be getting your personal copy of XP or you should be getting an OEM disc that contains XP. Sure, you can Ghost it, but I wouldn't purchase a machine that had XP installed yet came with no disc containing the OS so that you can do a reformat and reinstallation at some point in the future.
