Can you please post any thoughts on this software in this thread.

TheMadGuy would be grateful for any input you care to give on the prog.

What do you like?

What don't you like?

What would you like to see in future editions?

You can download the latest version of Instant Copy Hidden Settings Editor from mrbass's site HERE

I love it and use it profusely.

There isn't really anything I don't like about it.

Even with the latest updates to PIC and the Settings Editor, I can't get PIC to utilize the whole DVD-R.

There is a very good magazine article which discusses using the hidden settings editor. It doesn't actually mention it by name, but does reference Mr. Bass to get it. Check out PC Magazine June 17, 2003 on pages 68-70.

Does the editor work with Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD?

Is there anyway a modification could be made to have PIC use Cinema Craft Encoder to do the rendering? That would be awesome.

Finally I noticed something very strange in my start menu since the most recent PIC update. PIC has put some registration check which actually shows my serial number plain as day. Can I deactivate this in the start menu via MSCONFIG or is it necessary to run the program?

Keep up the good work with the settings editor. DVDXCopy was a piss-poor alternative to the DVD Decrypter->PIC with Hidden Settings Editor choice.

Hi Markbot!

Thanx 4 ur post!
Great to see you like it!

I would like to get my hands on that article :)
But dont know where to get it...

to your questions:

1) no, sorry, but the settings changed are specific to InstantCopy only, so Instant CD/DVD doesnt access the settings!

2) no, there is not. InstantCopy and CCE work by diffrent concepts, while InstantCopy Transcodes the Input Stream, CCE actualy Re-Renders it, so there is no possibility to let IC use CCE

3) cant say much on that, on my system 2 files are started via Registry : VOBRegCheck wich checks the registry for DVD-Rom drivers but doesnt access the Serial-Key and PSDrvCheck which tries to ensure a usable ASPI Layer is active AFAIK, but doesnt access the Serial-Key either. I dont have any other Prog from IC autostartet!
So if you can provide me some further information, i might be able to answer your question if its safe to disable it....

I'll try my best to keep improving Instant Copy Hidden Settings Editor :D

Hi TheMadGuy, sorry for my delay in getting back to you m8. Been away on holiday for a bit.

The Beta you sent me was great btw, I loved the bigger buttons and I think it does make the GUI a lot better on the eyes. Well for me anyways! :D

I think the reason why you are getting such little feedback here is that you made such a damn good job of the prog in the first place there really is very little to improve on. I too get the reg warning when I activate IC7 since the last update. I use "Start Up Monitor" and this then gives me the option to say no to it, but I've not noticed any difference when I've said yes either so......

@Laz!

n.p. m8! Just though you forgot about me..
Hope you enjoyed you holiday...

rl is quite busy at the moment 4 me, and i am desperatly looking forward to my next holidays!

I'm happy you liked the Lat-Edition :D
Did you know this is basicly the same Version and the GUI is rearanged at runtime :) only added a few additional gfx. only backside is that when the next settings might come with the next update the code will blow, not enough space on the main frame.
But if u like i'll compile a 1.3.1 Laz-Final 4 ya when i'm done with 1.3.1 ;)

And 10x 4 ur words of praise :D
After my tool had gone public i tried to include any feature i could think of as useful, guess i prety much succeded :)

Anyways, any feedback is welcome. And i think i dont have to mention that some kind words can keep up motivation a lot!

to the RegWarning, since i cant reproduce this behaviour, i cant analyze it :( will try to figure it out anyway to supply some help!

btw, does any1 know a good source for the ISO 9660 Standard Structure ? AFAIK ISO doesnt give their documents for free. But since this is a very common thing there should be some good resource on the net.....

Does the editor work with Pinnacle Instant CD/DVD?
hi m8!

theres an update on this question of yours!

Instant CD/DVD 7.06
Date Inserted : 16/6/2003
Size : 43,9 MB

Main changes:
  • Blue Screen with installed Creative Sound driver fixed
New InstantCopy version (based on the 7.1.1 update)
New Hardware.dll, reading were sometimes wrong, (150 sector error)
Note : this patch can only be used if a version of Instant CD/DVD 7.0 is already installed.

Get the update here
Instant CD/DVD 7.06 Update

now, since it dont have Instant CD/DVD, i cant surely tell you if it works with InstantCopy Hidden Settings Editor, but if the patch description is excact is contains latest InstantCopy, so it should work perfectly together.

You can easily find out by changing DVDDestDisplaySize in IC.H.S.E. and checking if InstantCopy of Instant CD/DVD accepted the change!

If you try this , plz let me know if it worked or not!

Hope this helps!

@Markbot

did some more research on that topic,
basicly it will work when you apply the patch, only
drawback is that you wont get access to the
7.0.3.140 Settings, this is because
InstantCD+DVD uses a diffrent version architecture.

this will be fixed in 1.3.1, which btw is close to release now

Looking forward too it. Keep up the good work.

I expected CloneDVD to replace the DVD Decrypter->PIC with your settings editor combo, but maybe not.

TheMadGuy, many thanks for the great program. The batch processing features and PDIControl are awesome!

However, there is a small problem with setting DVDAutoVideoSize to "True" before starting the batch. You change only the value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VOB\CD Wizard\7.0\Copy. But if one is using a custom IC profile (like I do), you also have to set the value "DVDCopyMethod" in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VOB\CD Wizard\7.0\Copy\CurrentSettings and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VOB\CD Wizard\7.0\Copy\Profiles\<Profilename> to "dcmAutomatic". Otherwise IC still stops at the Customize Streams dialog during batch processing. To find the currently selected profile, examine the "LastProfile" value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VOB\CD Wizard\7.0\Copy.

And last, a "Shutdown system after processing batch" feature for the batch processing would be very nice :)

Thanks again!

Hi RB!

thanx for your detailed input, this is only partially correct, the DVDCopyMethod Key is actualy already changed, but i forgot about profiles indeed, the 1.3.1 Release was already out of Beta state when you posted this, so this isnt solved in it, but i will do so in 1.3.2, and also consider a system shutdown option

Thank you for your feedback!

Greetnx

@VIPER_1069 yeah me too! As supposed some good non nonsense feedback, finaly.
So to the whole team, thnx again for giving me this opportunity!
To evry1 posting here, thnx for ya feedback

Here's some more then m8. :D

Now I'm running IC 7 with update 3. When I start ICHSE even if I load my saved setting file I get that message at the top of the GUI saying "Pinnacle IC 7.0.1.114 settings (Your version is 7.0.3.140)

So I change it over again to the correct version by clicking on "Display" etc. But the correct setting will not stick even if I save it?!?
