And keygen doesn't work for me??? Maybe PicoZip v2.02 had a silent update, without changin' version No?

Size of PicoZipSetup.exe=1.996.558 bytes! Can somebody compare?

The keygen I found(probably the same one) wouldn't work either. It kept telling me I was missing MSRCR70.DLL .I searched through google ,found it,installed it and the keygen worked fine.

Archiver(s)
1. Power Archiver 2001 6.11 free version (for unzipping)
2. 7-Zip - for tighter zipping than aany known alternative
Also for Unraring RAR3 archives, which the OLD PA cannot do.
Also has it's own format(s)
3. Winimp - discontinued, free - has own formats that are quite efficient.

I guess I'll have to get hold of RAR3, as multipart RAR is the most commong split method should I wish to post/upload multiparts.

I prefer my compressions to be open-source / open standards - I'd jump at the first STRONG challenger to RAR/ACE - 7z is probably the only "better than zip" option which fits that class at the moment.

No, I'm talking about this CORE keygen, attached by p0rkus. Wrong serial number!!! That's why I think that maybe PicoZip was updated, but SILENTLY!!! Can somebody compare exe files, my setup exe is 1.996.558 bytes?

Thanks, pinkfloyd6, I've got mscvr70.dll, keygen works but when I try to register with generated serial PicoZip tells me that serial isn't correct. Of course, I do copy&paste!

@jasmin
picozip did have a silent update. extracted both setup file & the picozip.exe has different dates on them. funny thing...my reg works with the newer date.

ehh...here is the setup file that works with the keygen

is there any good command-line (un-)packer that supports rar3, zip, ace, tar, tgz, gz, ... (as many formats as possible) ??

Thanks to p0rkus, PicoZip is finaly regged! And, like I already said, and p0rkus confirmed, PicoZip had a silent update!!! Old setup.exe was 1.993.355 bytes & new one is 1.996.558 bytes! You can see this from my attachment. Big THANX goes to p0rkus.

:) :) :) :) :)

With so many old timers on this board.. I would of thought that Winzip would of gotten a better showing! Need I remind all of you, that .zip got so popular it's the only one listed that was stolen and integrated by microsoft.

As far as Winrar.. They pissed me off with the newest upgrade. Older winrar version users will get that error, "The file is corrupt" when trying to unrar some compressed files made with the newest Winrar. To me this is fine.. but change the damn extension then! It confuses too many people. Would .rarplus or .raradv have been sooo hard?

It reminds me of mp3 pro, etc.. ripping off and using .mp3. Great.. now I have to download songs that can't play in my portable even though it's made to play mp3's. So now I must convert them... thanks. But in the case of Winrar.. they knowingly did it to themselves. To me.. that makes them suck.

Well, it seems that I also have the extraction problem by using WinAce 2.2, which they say they have fixed the bugs :(
Anywayz, I don't really understand what you mean by ripping off the mp3s. I think I heard somewhere that MP3 will be protected or something, is that what you are talking about or no?

Nah, I'm not talking about Digital Rights Managment.. but that's part of it too. What I am talking about is when someone makes something... say the ".mp3" format... and it becomes popular. Players are made, etc.. Then someone else comes along and makes it slightly better by tweaking the original format. Great right?

No.. cuz they realize a new format.. say ".mp3pro" would take years to take off and convert people too.. so they make their extension ".mp3" too.. and soon you have people wondering why their ".mp3" player won't play this ".mp3" file..not realizing it's cause it is in fact ".mp3pro".

In Winrar's case.. The newer Winrar can compress into a smaller file size format that isn't compatable with older Winrar's... So when you try to open ".rar" with an older Winrar you get an error instead. Nice huh.. If it isn't backward compatable.. it shouldn't use the same extension.

But on the case of Digitial rights.. Why use ".mp3".. why can't they use ".secure" or ".dont_download" or something like that...

I figure that these companies intend to mislead and confuse cause nobody seems to care...and it's a quick buck. But eventually we will have 100's of different file types all claiming to be .mp3 and .rar, .zip, etc...

Well, I know that, but it seems that on the WinAce webpage, they said in WinAce 2.2, WinRAR bugs are fixed, but they are not.

Here's the bugs that I found:
1.) Files in the archive don't show up. (tested with a passworded RAR)

2.) CRC Error.

O wellz, I hope WinAce will fix this soon ;)

I'm using WinRAR right now but...

What do you get better compression (smaller file sizes) with?

.ZIP or .RAR ?

You decide!

I'll have to say that if given the choice between WinAce and NO prog, I'd take the "no program". I detest that piece of crap. Its always going to be WinRAR or WinZip
