There's some compression used in Warez games mostly.
UHarc....or something like that.

Well I've got a 100MB DL to decompress in over 600...that one gets my v0ote...but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

uharc compression tool

h??p://w?w.hcd.8k.com/download.html

Heres that very HIGH compression tool for ya

well, let's see:

1) I don't like the way winrar handles directories and subdirs.
2) I don't like the way WinACE mess with the associations
3) I like the way Powerarchiver handles almost everything

BUT

4) In my very personal and humble opinion, the best compressor ever was ARJ

I gonna vote for PowerArchiver 8.00 RC3

WinRAR

For almost three years - despite a brief period using WinACE - my recommended choice of archival software has been WinRAR. It still is. In fact I have actually bought a subscription - which is about as high as praise goes from me.

For the tightest compression I would suggest any of the numerous *.CAB supporting programmes. In fact I once wrote a WinZIP style C app that linked the free Microsoft *.CAB libraries. I beta'ed well past interface and code design - but my harddrive failed and I lost six months of work (ALWAYS backup). It was then I started using WinACE (because of the native *.CAB support) for a while...

And unfortunately it seems - at least for me - that the link to 'uharc' no longer works.

PicoZip

Goto picozip's website and read about it. I don't need to use
any other program for comprssing an uncompressing files.

Can you, please, tell us how to register PicoZip v2.02?

OK, found a crack!

winRAR. Very good compression on new v3. Handles directorys & everything else well (don't know how people have issues with this), can open most other archiving types & is very widely used.

Also it can fix/repair corrupted ones fairly ok too.

I trully like Winrar, but Ive been experiencing people telling me my compressed files are corrupt and I can open them with ease

You probably use the "cracked" version (the one who can use your name as reg. user) and compress files with "AV" feature.

If above is true, try using the shareware version + reg. file's combination, then "AV" feature will be correct and the situation you write above will disappear.

PS:
Seems all "cracked" versions which can let you reg. by your own name lose "AV" (Authenticity Verification) feature.

I use Powerarchiver as major archiver. It handles almost every archive type on the market. Together with PA I have WinRAR 3 installed in case I have to compress using RAR.

And the new Powerarchiver 2002 is very nice.
