What do you get better compression (smaller file sizes) with?
.ZIP or .RAR ?
it's proven that winrar3 has a much better compression algorithm and the files are smaller!

For those who wanna try UHarc with a GUI. Keep in mind that it's still a very early BETA

spycat thinks that winace would be good as winrar except winace likes to somehow change its own settings.

powerarchiver very good too. tons of features. but may be too much for new guy.

winzip also good. good for new guy. but lacks features as advanced disk spanning, won't handle ace and rar.

spycat thinks that winrar best overall for balance. easy too use.
fast and handles lots of formats. is amazing what it will do. spycat even uses this to make simple install routines.

if want fancy with features, go powerarchiver.

if new guy and not intersted in w*rez, go winzip.

if in middle, go winrar. it is really good.

and it's only 900k all the other comes with 1500+
that means it's the only that fit's in a 1.44 disk. I think it's important for a compression utility.
Cheers

personallyy i like stuffit for the best because it s just the best compression i know after bz2.
but can t it find anywhere. try stuffit it just kicks ass

WinRAR

Definitively! :)

In second, I like WinAce, but WinRAR has proven itself a lot more useful to me until now.

WinAce has an advantage, though: compression speed. WinRAR can be very slow on huge files.

Winzip can't even handle very large files.

Which archiver???

I always install WinRAR an WinZip. Which of them have better compression depends on what you want to compress. On the other side I don't compress anything, better burn it on CD for archiving. So...
