However, the faster speed is only available during off-peak hours - weeknights (6pm - 8am), all weekend (6pm Friday - 8am Monday), and Bank holidays. During the rest of the time the service runs at 512kbps.

there aint such a thing as a free lunch it will be slow when everyone hammers it at the same times to get the max out of it and there is no mention here of a contention ratio at their end so u could be sharing 100-200:1 ratio connected to the same connection at there end average on 512k dsl is about 50 -70:1 unless otherwise stated
