failure of Nero burned discs

Hi, first posting on any forum.

Our CD-R's aren't reading. In fact they are locking up any computer they are run on. We are burning on Atapi CDRW 32x12x40x with Nero software. We are bumfuzzled by this one.

Thank you,
PPHadmin

Hi PPHadmin:)

Can U give Us more info please

What OS are U using(operating system)?

What version of nero are U using?

Has this just begun 2 happen or has it always done it?

Are U using the versio of nero that came bundled with the burner?

What is the Exact make/model of Cd Burner U are using(U can find this out in nero's options by selecting the Recorder menu & choose recorder)

Have U got any other CD Burning apps installed?

If U are Using XP, do U have the IMAPI CD Engine disabled?

If U can give us this info, we will be able 2 help:)

& Thank U 4 making this forum Ur first place of call, we got a lot of very knowlegable folk here, im sure we can get this sorted 4 U

Cheers:)

CD-R's won't read in CD-ROM

Apologies for not giving more complete details in initial posting.

The CDRW drive in question is Atapi CDRW 32/12/40x
OS: 98se
Nero version: 5.5 (and, yes, it came bundled with the burner)
No other CD burning apps are installed.
Firmware: 120c 1/4 buffer

Let me expand on our issue: We are able to directly copy some files from the CD-R to hard drives, but if we try to access the files burned on the CD-R or copy some files, our systems lock up. One error that has been noted is: "cyclic redundancy check".

Thank you for any help you can give us.

Hi bud..sounds like you are getting bad burns.

I would suspect the media first. What type are you using?

What speed are they burning at?I take it these are just data cd's.

Have you updated your version of Nero?(might also help). If you're new at burning use the Nero wizard too.;)

Anyways,welcome to the forum bud!

Make sure your media is 32x rated, also try writing at a slower speed, say 16X.If the problem goes away,it is the media.;)

closing

I am presuming the discs you are doing have been finalised? this means the disc can then be read in any pc to my knowlege if they aren't fanilised the the dics is unreadable in another pc.

there is a check box in the nero "write cd" popup box to finalise cd's.

Are you only ever burning once to a disc or are you doing multisession discs?

hope this helps
