excel master needed

Hello peeps..this is my problem,I have recently done an invoice with a excel template great, however when entering £ sign it keeps putting it in $ sign my regional settings are correct for english any ideas have read the help file as much use as pouring cold water on volcano when it erupts....

well u ought to beable to format the cell to currency and select the required currency symbol . . . thus it wont depend on regional settings . . . dunno what version ur using - but its like i described for office 2k and maybe xp

Okie...sheesh...after a while I figured it out ;)...after crashing my office twice  ;)

First save your template to something else test.xls

then unprotect your sheet by going to --> tools\protection\unprotect sheet

Once thats done highlight your figures --> right click on them --> choose format cells

this is the original formula

_("$"* #,##0.00_);_("$"* (#,##0.00);_("$"* "-"??_);_(@_)

change it too

_("£"* #,##0.00_);_("£"* (#,##0.00);_("£"* "-"??_);_(@_)

this should change your $ to £...hopes this helps.... :D :D - then save the the excel sheet as a template so you don't have to create it again...remember to protect the sheet before you save it as a template

Don't ask me how to create the forumla/macro, as I don't have a clue, I can hack Office to suit me needs ....heheheh ;p

ack...that took 47 mins off my online time to figure that out :(....

I'm expecting some a few pints off you know ...heheh ;) ;)

freejnr thanks a lot M8 havent tried it yet just popped on net going away for a day or two looks complex but will give it a go thanks again two pints are in the post...

freejnr right M8 got round to doing what you sugest and it does chang the sign but only in the unit price colum not in the total colum ah well back to something that is less hassle...

Rugrat you have to change the total colum too ;p

There is also a Easier way of doing the format

to the same as above then - highlight what you wanna change then

right click - format cells

instead of change the $ to £ - click on "Currency" category and change the symbol (drop down combo) to £ or any other currency..easy when you know how ;p

spot on M8 that did the biz,I was having problem highlighting the total colum but I realised you had to have cells unprotected to be able to do the total as opposed to the unit price which highlites without protection thanks again freejnr it may have clarified things also for people looking in on the thread:D
