I see two problems to start with. :)
1, try unistalling other burning software if you must use NERO
2, Change your IDE set up.

DiskPeripheral : Maxtor 6Y120M0 atapi Port 2 ID 1 DMA: On

Try that and let us know how you make out. :)

Also NERO sucks for DVD (judging by all the problems members have) so lets us know what your trying to do and maybe we can give you a better way to do it.

PCG,

which burning software do u use? I have just been using Nero b/c DVD shrink has the feature to burn with nero without having to actually open Nero separately to burn.

i would be more than willing to try a different burning program. I wouldnt mind paying as long as its not too expensive. is the software you recommend free?

PS: btw...i have been burning movies for several months and it is just an occasional problem that crops up here and there. i am sure that the next movie i burn would work without changing anything in my setup...i find that with some movies i have problems while others burn without a problem.

i use
1. DVDstripper with Decryptor
2. DVDshrink with Nero

Why don't you just save it as ISO with DVD Shrink and then burn it with DVD Decryptor? Works the best for me.:)

hmm..guess i never knew that you could do that

by doing that way...do i have the flexibility to "trim the fat" so to speak. Obviously with dvd shrink i would be able to get rid of the different languages...how would i get rid of "extras" by using decryptor or shrink

please do step by step example of your copying process of lets say a 7GB movie ...so it will obviously need to be trimmed up some in order to keep the compression at a reasonable level

You use shrink to "trim the fat" but you just save it as an ISO and then just burn it with decryptor. :)

I tried to find a step by step, no luck but it like this save as (see picture) then in DVD Decrypter (3.1 or 3.2) chose Mode >>ISO>>Write pick your ISO and go get beer. Or put a check in the box and it will do it with out. Hope that helps. :)

Why should he put the burner as slave to the boot harddisk and the second harddisk as slave to DVD-ROM drive is beyond my low understanding level...
He should simply swap burner and reader, and remove the prassi driver. I wouldn't feel too happy about ASPI 4.71, either.
However, the problem here is different:

4:49:50 PM #2 DVDREALLOC -21 File DVDVideoCompilation.cpp, Line 1177
Required file 'VTS_02_0.VOB' is not present

4:49:50 PM #3 Phase 115 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 273
DVD-Video files reallocation failed

Can our friend tell us what exactly he's trying to do?

It must be nice going through life thinking your the only one that knows anything and never give anyone else any credit. :)

I don't think anything in particular (too tiresome), but I am just guessing that setting a burner as slave to a harddisk is not a terribly bright idea, either...
And the second suggestion (putting HD as slave to DVD-ROM) would make it crawl with any old mobo chipset (older that KT333 or i845), as on those "old" chipsets the master device sets the pace for the slave one.
