@ Tommie,

The question that Duracell is asking you is have you tried a playing a rented DVD from a video store similar to Blockbuster or Hollywood Video or a commercially produced DVD that you purchased from a store?

Did the rented DVD or commercially purchased DVD play properly?

Coaster

not only the jumpers; cable type and the proper drive position at the cables is important too;
please follow Roady's link;

and about my initial question Coaster is right too;

Thanks to both of you! :cool:

Try this for MicroAdvantage 4DVDRW-B13

Hello, I just installed this same drive for a friend, and had the same problem.
Turns out, the cable that ships with this drive is WRONG.
This drive supports UDMA66. You need to upgrade your IDE cable to one that will support this speed. You can test this theory, by setting the drive to use PIO mode only under WinXP. You will find that the drive will play a DVD, albeit like CRAP because the data transfer rate is far too slow, but it will play.
Once you install the new cable, all your problems should go away. If you need anymore help, email me. I just happened to stumble across this thread looking for something else (region free firmware :) so I don't chek this forum. (Man, I even went through the "sucky" registration process just so I could post this :eek:

Hope this helps
