DVD2SVCD question for Chickenman

i have been messing around with dvd2svcd and noticed under the Frameserver tab there is a resize to option DVD(720X488/576)
my question is, why resize to SVCD(480X480/576) if you are going to play the SVCD on a DVD player as the original dvd picture resolution is 720X480/576 anyway?
I have made many SVCD from DVD using the resize to DVD and found the results to be better and a darn site more quicker as no resizing of the picture is required. as an example
Harry Potter 2 using DVD= 3 hours
Harry Potter 2 using SVCD= 10.5 hours
I have yet to find a dvd player that wil not play these if they already play SVCD. As a note i always burn my SVCD from the .cue file using Nero
