Just got this new error when trying to burn the disc with dvd shrink (nero) after using dvd stripper..any idea what's causing it? i searched this error and i think it is a problem that must have occured during the decrypting and project while using dvdstripper even though i got no errors when i did that part of my procedure

Hi maelek

how big was the original VTS_02_0.VOB? It's strange how it's missing, what version of DVDStripper were you using?

dvd stripper 0.3.0
dvd shrink 3.2
nero 6.3.1.20

weird..i don't see a vts.02.vob under my dvdstripper temp folder but in the dvd temp folder (what is uses to burn) it has the file but it is 0 kb.

ill try to do job again see if stripper had a hiccup

if it's 0kb and the original is 0kb then it's normally OK to ignore this error and go ahead and burn but try a DVD-RW first. DVDStripper just copies the original 0kb file across directly as they are essential to the DVD structure. Initially we left it out but it created playback issues and copying the file across before processing was complete soon fixed that ;)

Nero has always moaned on about 0kb files as it doesn't realise that you can have them on a DVD as long as the pointers are correct :D

maybe one day Ahead will recognise this fact and get rid of this annoying 'false' error

hmm
tried recreating the job with dvd stripper and then burning but keep getting the same error. It occurs just as dvd shrink finishes "encoding" and goes to burn.

when u say the "original" VTS_02_0.VOB are you refering to the actual DVD or the decrypted info on my hard drive?

I think he means just copy the 0kb VTS_02_0.VOB and any other 0kb VOB's from the original to your HD Folder and try to burn. Its also normal for Shrink to remove the 0kb files. Also load any of the IFO files into IFOEdit and hit the Get VTS Sectors button, once your copied the files across, answer Yes to any questions IFOEdit pops up.

I would also assume you will still get the Re-allocation error (Nero hates those 0kb files) but I would ignore that this time. As suggested, burn firstly to a DVD RW and try playing that, if all is well burn to DVDR.

ok...the original dvd has a 0kb VTS_02_0.VOB as does the folder on my hard drive that i point towards when i run dvd shrink.

so exactly how would i do a work around on burning this disc. I am not that familiar with ifoedit given that dvdstripper does everything for me in respect to that program.

please list explicit instructions if possible.

btw i looked at the program and didnt see a get vts sector button

thanks

Shrink what you have on your HD to another folder, then copy the VTS_02_0.VOB file to the folder where Shrink did its shrinking to. Then use Ifoedit to Get VTS Sectors and burn with Nero, ignoring the Re-allication error.

ok chicken man..i see the button in ifoedit that u are talking about

1. i copy/pasted the 0kb VTS_02_0.VOB from the disk into the temp/backup folder where shrink puts the files

2. i opened ifoedit but that button (and most of the buttons) are greyed out and i can't for the life of me figure out what i am suppose to do at this point. Am i suppose to click the "open" button at the bottom in order to do the vts transfer? if so, what file am i opening (seems to need to be an .ifo file but i don't know which folder it is located in; should i get one from the shrink temp/backup folder?) If not, step by step me please

thanks

Yes and load in ANY of the IFO files, hit the Get VTS Sectors button and answer YES to any popup window. Then exit the program, if any changes were needed it automatically saved these changes.

sorry I haven't replied maelek but my email notification isnt working :(

it's strange how DVDShrink isn't fixing the DVD when it's removing the 0kb file as it normally fixes the IFO's also. As Chickenman mentions you can add the 0kb files and click Get VTS once you open an IFO

if you see any windows popup with loads of values then you know Ifoedit has corrected the sector values. If all you see is nothing and just a list of IFO's in the top half of Ifoedit then it's done nothing

when Nero reports the error can you not just continue and burn on a RW? Like I mentioned Nero complains about these but sometimes it's OK to burn. I can't say what DVDShrink is doing to the IFO's but I do know DVDStripper/Ifoedit kept them compliant and maybe DVDShrink is also

try getting hold of Mark's Tray DD player and playing the files. This is a very good player to use to check whether the DVD will play in the fussier of players as it's rather fussy itself :)

Hey Mackem..

i finally got what you guys were saying and did it...nero burns them after doing what ya'll said. However, i have run into this error about 4 more times since then on new dvds

is this an attempt at copyright protection by the movie industry? Is DVD shrink gonna fix their software to compensate by including these 0 kb files?

i have even come across a few that have several 0kb files
