ok when i try to rip me ,myself ,and irene with dvd2svcd it says the sound is unspecified and it stops well i downloaded a program called gspot it suppose to tell you what codec to use well it says n\a then if i click on a different vob file in dvd2svcd it says its encrpted so am i doing something wrong

Sounds like you have picked the DTS audio track. Track 1 on most DVD's is DD AC3 English, that is probably what you need to select.
GSpot is really for AVI's and simple mpeg streams, not VOBs.
