Dvd Rip Conversion Into Divx Format

Hi,

we have recently downloaded a movie from the net, unfortunately it is on dvdrip format and will not work at all. We have the latest version of divx. Is there anyway in which we can convert the dvdrip into divxformat

I wasn't aware that DVDRip was a format? I mean VCD's, SVCD's, AVI's, OGM, RV9, etc. are all called DVDRips and converting each is somewhat of a different process.

its an extension put there buy a program i cannor remember the name of !? .dvdrip its just a weirdo extension !? that some program uses it needs XVID codecs i think googling it a few sites suggest using XVID
