DVD-R Playback Probs

I've just converted my first AVI to DVD-R using CM's tutorial. Everything went ok until I tried it in my standalone. It plays fine on my PC but my Sony standalone won't play it at all.
Could it have anything to do with the media I'm using? Im using Packard Bell DVD-R 1x speed.

Probably Media >< But Sony standalone would be picky re media >< ergo try it in another standalone & also use media with Ritek GO4 dye.

I have the smae issues, i cant seem to find a solution o the fact it doesnt play in any DVD player..I AM USING RITEK G04's and still nothing!!

WTF AM I DOING SO WRONG?
