DVD not working...

Usage and Instructions ON ForceAspi

Sorry my manners here is a brief description of what each script does.

1. instASPI

Installs the latest, 4.71.2, Adaptec ASPI layer on Win9x, WinME, WinNT, Win2K and WinXP. Any existing ASPI Layers will be overwritten.

2. dumpASPI

Creates a backup of your existing ASPI layer, or parts thereof. Some Win32 operating systems do not have an ASPI layer, in this situation you will create an empty backup.

3. restASPI

Restores the ASPI layer backup created with 'dumpASPI'. WARNING! If your ASPI backp is empty this will completely erase your currently installed ASPI layer.

4. killASPI

This will completely remove your currently installed ASPI layer.

5. killDUMP

The deletes your dumped ASPI layer.

I would recommend that you use ForceASPI in the following way...

* Run dumpASPI to backup your current ASPI layer
* Run instASPI to install the new ASPI layer
* Reboot your PC
* Run aspichk to see if everything worked OK

Source of above notes Here
By the way don't get confused with the new Forceaspi v1.8.
Version 1.7 is the business.

lol...no need to apoligise...thanks for your help...just hope I can get the silly thing to work !!!!

my question here is can you explore the dvd in the drive like any other cd !?

Have u checked to see if any other disks work in the drive like music cds or application cds !?

Do they load /run automatically !?

have you tried using ZOOM PLAYER ?! get the freeware standard version here > http://www.inmatrix.com/zplayer/

and see if this will play your dvd's !?

and may you have tried this already but make sure the disk surface is clean and dust /dirt free :)
clean with a soft cloth or soft tissue :)

let us know if you can successfully play audio/data cds to determine if the drive is faulty or not :)

If you have any VCD'S/SVCDS or can loan some these will play in a computer DVD player too :)

You can test your software with these :)

Hi Hun....Just tried with zoom player....first it said no media loaded...then each time I try again it is loading an e-commerce page for registering the pro version...I got the free version...

Yes...I can see whats on the dvd & play audio/app cds...and they run automatically....I have set the dvd option to ask me what to use....due to the probs I am having...but still nothing will work !!!! lol....I haven't got any VCD's....and I have tried cleaning them...

I still can't get the silly thing working...
Tried what has been said in the other DVD thread....still no luck....
At the moment I have a DVD in the drive, but it won't come out !!!! Tried again with powerDVD, but it is still freezing on me...as well as not letting me retrieve my DVD back !!!!!
Think I'll go back bed !!! lol

hmmmmmmm thats definatly not good ?! :(

can u not force and eject by choosing to eject when you right click on the cd rom drive in "my computer"

?!

a reboot should also reset the drive and allow eject !?

you may have to disable DMA if you read the other thread about dvd probs and enabled it !?!? this may be now causing you to freeze !?

Tried that....powereDVD has just given me this error:

Error sig
AppName: powerDVD.exe
AppVer: 3.0.0.1005
ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
OffSet: 01b4a360

I also had a quick look at what the error report will contain, for some reason it says my operating system is nt (think it said!!) I am running XP...

XP is still classed as NT5, so i wouldn't worry about that:)

2 view the disc's U really need DMA enabled 4 smooth playback

I have put them back how they were !! It must be a default setting in XP, as they were already enabled

AppVer: 3.0.0.1005
