double sided dvds

I have just ripped down starship troopers which is double sided(pal)
I have re-encoded both sides and made a dvd from it but i have to have a menue to play both "sides" of the disk
I use smart ripper remep and spuce to make the dvd
I was wondering how to jion the files together( m2v files and ac3 files) or how using spruce to have 2 media assets play one after another with having to use a menue.
I am sure this question sounds stupid but hey any help would be great!!

sspaceinvader, what kind of price did you pay for the double-sided, any good, in Europe, have Pioneer A04... just curious.

double sided dvd

sorry I think you misunderstood what i was saying. I am not talking about writeable double sided dvdrs but about converting a dvd (starship troopers) to fit a single layer 4.7gig dvdr. I have done it but i want to join the pieces together to play continuously.
At the moment i have a menue which say play part a and play part b
By the way i have heard that a us company makes double sided recordable dvdrs but have never seen them and personally dont see the point of them!!( i cant have a label on them!!!)

Starship Troopers

Using this method, you are also able to put a double sided Movie-DVD to one DVD-R.
I'll give an example:

I have here the DVD 'Pretty Woman' which is splitted to Side A, and Side B.

Side A containes: Side B containes:
VTS_01_1.VOB VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB

We want to get it to one side. First you need the check out, which is the last VOB-ID on side A.
So load VTS_01_4.VOB of side A into VobEdit, and scroll down to the last Navigation Pack. The last VOB-ID in that case is VOB-ID Nr: 2
Okay, so the file VTS_01_1.VOB of side B must start with VOB-ID: 3

First rename the files of side B to the following order:
VTS_01_001.VOB
VTS_01_002.VOB
VTS_01_003.VOB

2. Open the first VOB file (VTS_01_001.VOB) with VobEdit, and choose the Menu: 'Edit -> Join Clips':

A filedialog will apear, where you have to specify a destination directory for the final VOB file-set. You better choose a new empty directory for that.
A second dialog will pop up, where you have to specify a starting VOB-ID. This time we are using Nr: 3

When the joining has finished, you will have a new set of VOB files named:
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB

Now you simply can rename them to:
VTS_01_5.VOB
VTS_01_6.VOB
VTS_01_7.VOB
and move them to the same directory that is containing the Side A files.

Now you just need to adjust the IFO file. You have got 2 options for that:

1: Let IfoEdit create new IFO files for this title-set and you're done.

2: Let IfoEdit correct the original IFO file with the new vob-file information.
Since 7 VOB files are to large for a DVD-R, you will go to strip some streams out anyway. In that case the original IFO file gets automaticaly updated by IfoEdit.

sspaceinvader, best is to use Maestro to do the Authoring. Just make a timeline for Movie1 (for side 1 of the dvd) and Movie2 (for side 2), load in the m2v & ac3 files into the appropiate movie. Add Chapters to each but also add one nearest to the end of Movie1 as possible. Then in Connections, simply set the Traget for the End Action of the LAST chapter in Movie1 to play the first chapter (00:00:00:00) of Movie2.

This runs seamless on playback. One small problem though is you cant jump to a Chapter in the 2nd Movie while your playing the first.

I mave also jined the VOB files together as setout by FOZY, but have had a number with audio sync problems where 1st 1/2 of the final dvdr plays back fine, then it jumps 1/2 a sec and the rest of the movie has audio out by 1/2 sec or so. Doing it in the 2 halves never has this problem.

Hope that helps.
