Does a real corp version of WinXP require CD-Key?

Hey, I want to ask you guys does a real (legal) corporate version of WindowsXP requires CD-Key or does it automatically activated once installed? If it doesn't, then does it requires ProductID number?

from what I understand, xp corp does not require the wpa, but does have the pid...all xp's have the 640 pid (legal)...

sure someone will answer it more fully...thats all I understand of it...

you could try and search for the answers ...been lots of posts about xp / sp1 / m$ lately

no need to get aggressive, I'm not talking about the SP1. I'm talking about a regular real corporate version of WinXP.

Yes it does need a cd key, but u don`t have to activate

u do need a key for the corp version. u just dont have to activate it. use the search...u can find quite a bit of info.

The only difference between a Corporate and a normal Professional version of WIndows XP is indeed the product activation.

For both programs - as for all other M$ products- you will need a serial number in order to be able to install the software.

Additionally you need to obtain a registration number from M$ when using a normal version of Windows XP Professional as available in shops.
As all the freaks on the internet who do not wish to pay for software do not want to tell M$ all their secrets they longed for a version of XP that does NOT need this activation crap. Et voilá - they got the version of XP meant for companies who do not wish to call M$ a thousand times for each of their computers (they bought a volume license from M$).

"Corporate" programs can be regular volume (less than 250 licenses per company) or select/enterprise (250 or more licenses). The select volume software did not used to require a key but I believe that changed with Windows XP and now both require a volume license key for windows XP but neither require activation. (I have heard that programs like Visio XP select volume do not require a key).
