The only difference between a Corporate and a normal Professional version of WIndows XP is indeed the product activation.
For both programs - as for all other M$ products

- you will need a serial number in order to be able to install the software.
Additionally you need to obtain a registration number from M$ when using a normal version of Windows XP Professional as available in shops.
As all the freaks on the internet who do not wish to pay for software do not want to tell M$ all their secrets they longed for a version of XP that does NOT need this activation crap. Et voilá - they got the version of XP meant for companies who do not wish to call M$ a thousand times for each of their computers (they bought a volume license from M$).
