Do you leave your system on 24/7 ??

Thanks for looking.

I leave my desktop system on 24/7 but turn the laptop on as and when I need it.

Just wondered what others do with their system.

This poll is for the main computer in your house.


24/7 = Exactly that, never off.

PER DAY = Switch on in the morning and off last thing at night.

AS NEEDED = Switch on, surf for a bit, switch off. Switch back on again to send an email then switch it off again.

as and when needed for me,if im dlin through the night it stays on if not then its off.
besides my O&O is set to defrag some files before windows starts so i have to turn it off sometime

24/7. it works even while i sleep. it usually only goes down when adding new hardware or a bad thunderstorm.

176 days is my record, this time its only been on 7 days (but that was for a reinstall so it wasnt exactly off just offline)

i'd reckon i've been offline about 11 days in the last 3 years so i guess that counts as 24/7 (thank god there are soooo many ftp's )

Only time I turn off is to restart to different OS.
When they come up with a workaround to that Ill be happy.

Yep mine is on 24/7 but generally encoding movies, not d/ling them. Monitor is off while I sleep though.

There is no adsl or cable where I live, so I've got the machine hooked up to a satellite dish for downloads.
Like most of you guys it's on 24/7 only the monitor gets turned off.

mine has been on 24/7 for the past couple of months..apart from the odd reboot for hardware/driver changes.....bloody adsl means toooo much stuff to download lol

thats not fair Viper stop rubbing it in for the 56k users like me who can't get cable or brodband . lol

my computer is nearly on 24/7 just turng it off to get some peace when i sleep the fan is too dam loud
