divx to svcd prob

In DVD2SVCD's Misc window, for "Input file type" select AVI, then the DivX 3 to 4 option will appear.
WMP is not good for playing AVI's, sometimes has lip synce problem when the file is actually okay. Look at using another avi player, such as WinDVD, etc.
VD is good for cutting the files into 2.

I would suggest you convert the AVI to SVCD as you intended and then read this tut on how to fix the a/v sync problem.

I had the same problem as address in that post. I have checked AVI in the input file type box, and convert divx 3 to divx 4 is still uncheckable. I also have 2 other problems with the tutorial that I may as well address in this post.
I followed the tutorial word for word and did everything but just before it started the video encoding steps, I got a message telling me that BeSweet.exe had an error and would shut down. So I clicked ok. Then the video encoding proceeded and when it was finished, it activated the bbMPEG feature and it gave me this message. "bbMPEG error - Inupt file C:\NewMovies\Encoded_audio_1.mp2 was not found "
At that point the whole process stopped and was not completed.
Please can you help me ?

I have just formatted my HD and starting to re-install everything and have found the Div3 to Div4 option also greyed out also ! 
But I'm way short of installing all my stuff, so must install DivX 3.11 codec myself.

I am probably going to appear stupid for asking this, but what the heck. I have seen the word "warez" a lot on the internet, but have no clue what it really is. Could somebody please educate me a little bit ? Having this knowledge could help me to avoid embarrasing situations in the future. Thank you.

No I havent, I tend to only install stuff when I need it rather than like to have it. But I have encoded a couple of DivX3 to SVCD without any problems anyway. DivX3 cant be used to decode the avi since I dont have it installed and DivX 5.03 seams to be doing the job just fine anyway.
I suggest you ignore that funtion assumeing you have DivX 5.03 installed and just proceed from there.

I checked and I actually have divx v 5.0.2 Is that good enough ?
Also, I don't know if you saw my earlier post about the other problems I am having. I followed your tutorial and have a couple of issues stopping me from succeeding. First, just before it starts the decoding process I get a message saying that besweet.exe has some sort of problem and will shutdown. So then I click ok and the decoding begins. Then when it finishes, I get another message that bbmpeg error, Input file c:\newmovies\encoded_audio_1.mp2 was not found.
Any idea what I can do about these problems ?

5.03 is better, but 5.02 will be okay.

There are 2 separate problems. The first one is during the audio conversion process. I get a MS Windows error message saying
"BeSweet.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."
I do not know what the address is or how to find it. If you tell me how, I will try to get it for you.
