U need whatever codec the Divx is
Use Gspot to find out what it is
Use Google to search for things like DivX Codec 3.11a
& voila loadsa answers including this one

5.xx can decode DivX3 both using VFW and directshow, so no you don't really need 3.11alpha. Also the 3.11alpha VFW decoder appears to always serve the video up as RGB even though it is stored as YV12, so you would be better off without it anyway.
On my latest re-intall of Windows I have not installed DivX 3.11a and have found no DivX avi's that I cant decode, yet ! The option in DVD2SVCD in the Misc Tab to tick "Convert Divx3 to DivX4 ..." will be greyed out, so just ignore it.
There are however the odd DivX around that uses DivX Audio, thats when you need to install it, but wait until then.
