divx problem

After switching from divx 4.12 to 5.02 fullscreen playback doesn't work very well anymore. The picture is not fluent, it frequently freezes shortly (only fullscreen).

I can of course simply go back to 4.12 to solve the problem. I was just wondering if 5.02 has a better picture quality than 4.02 (no encoding, only for playback). And if yes, how can the problem be solved?

what divx player are you using !? i had loads of probs with the player thats bundled in the 5.02 codecs pack !!

solution switched to zoom player (search the forum)
works perfect and plays far more media formats than the divx player that comes with codecs 5.02 ;)

Tried that, no success.
I don't know if this problem is related to the playback problem, but with 5.02 the picture looks digitized if you know what I mean. Like a bad 100 Htz tv.

BVV can you check divx 5.02 options! Make changes to them and replay the movie!
(e.g. try to increase the divx quality)

If you have new info please post again!

;)

I've had my problems with DivX 5.02 and went back to DivX 4.12. Audio seems to "lag" all the time doing a backup using DivX 5.12 using Smart Ripper& Vidomi:D PowerDVD will play AVI format as well....

DO YOU MEAN play back is blocky ?!? pixellized !? is it the same with all your divx films or just one or two !? it may be a bad film in general sometimes they distort to hell when badly converted or it could just be a naff film in the 1st place !! :( eitehr a cam copy or some way of gettin the film before it hits the shops !

"DO YOU MEAN play back is blocky ?!?"

Yes, I DO. But it's not important what the cause is, because I can't solve the jerky playback anyway. I'll keep on using using 4.12.

Finally, the problem is solved.
I found a small player, BSPlayer, that works with 5.02. I have no idea why, but it does.

DivX 4.12 vs. DivX 5.02

BVV,
If your encoding, I strongly recommend DivX 4.12. If you don't like WinDVD, or PowerDVD, then definatly go with Zoom Player, one of the finest media players around m8 ;) Zoom Player will also play DVD's :D

I have just tested Zoomplayer again to make sure I didn't make a mistake the last time I used it. It simply won't work with DivX 5.02. Even after closing all other running programs it plays terribly. Very jerky and the picture quality is low.

Zoom Player not at fault, "fuzzy" file

It's not Zoom Player, it's the file you are viewing. Consider Zoom Player a "TV" and a file the signal you see Zoom Player through. If it's raining& lightnin', then picture= fuzzy wuzzy ;) Your file you're viewing has been out in da rain awhile, follow?
