Divx jerky

Got a problem encoding in Divx [useing 5.02 in virtueldub]] no matter how i adjust it it still shows up a little bit jerky, most noticable in action seens the close ups are quite good can anyone give a hand ,would be most thankfull.

I assume the movie is NTSC. What frame rate is it (what does DVD2AVI tell you if you load it in and press F5 ) ? Most NTSC stuff is actually 23.976 fps with pulldown enable to make it a 29.97 fps. You should encode to 23.976 rather than 29.97.

Its recording off of satelite useing avi dvx output in virtueldub , this frame rate is not shown ,it is not off a dvd ,i use NTSC just need the proper direction to clean this up to be able to burn good copy to svcd , i tried for hours every setting possible [i think] in divx 5.02 to make a compromise between jerkie and blocky im running win2k p4 2gig intel prosessor 512 ddr ram ati aiw 7500 i think i have enough power??
