Disk at Once... Why ?

I've just read again the tutorial (divx to vcd) and I noticed that ChickenMan says :

Select the Write Speed to be 4x maximum and make sure Disk-At-Once is NOT ticked

No problem to understand about the speed, but I don't get it for DAO. I always burn my VCD's with Nero in DAO. Why am I wrong ? My stand alone DVD player plays them fine... Could you please explain ? I'm just curious

Sorry, I must fix that. With the older versions of Nero (4.9 to 5.0.x) if DAO was on it would result in a frisbie everytime. But with the later 5.5.x versions its actually best to be turned on.
