decripting blocked :(

Hello there,

This is the 3rd DVD which I have decripting problems with. I tried with DVD Decrypter, and some other tools but it gets blocked after some % and won't move, even in several hours, the only error message I have concerns "reading errors" ... Sorry I'm just a newbie

Thx

Try upgrading Dvd Decryptor,if you haven't already.Early versions had problems with the newer Liteon drives,165 and 166 come to mind. Also, could be an aspi problem.;)

thx woody ;) I did so for DVD Decryptor, but still no change and hm hm .. ok this question will look like the stupidest possible, but what do you mean by aspi problem ?

here is what I have, doesn't sound that good ;)

plus : winaspi32.dll version 2.01 (50) date 11/06/2
winaspi.dll NA NA
aspi32.sys NA NA
WOWPOST.EXE NA NA

ASPI is not properly installed. One or more components have been replaced with older versions of the software.

It means your ASPI layer being "bad" or corrupt... Decryptor and many Win32 apps have severe problems with ASPI 4.7X- but work gr8 with the old, trustee 4.60.1021 which is provided by ForceASPI 1.7 (legal stuff- at least i think so...).
If you go to www.filemirrors.com and hit on the box "forceaspi" you will find many instaces. Get it, run first the "killaspi" batch to remove your old layer, reboot, then run the "instaspi" batch, reboot again and now evrything should be OK.

thx for all the info ;) I have a aspi check better result now, but still the same problem for the backup :/ I don't know if this can help you but the DVD I try to get a backup of now is The Mothman Prophecy

you could download dod speed ripper from file mirrors site above
just enter "dodsrwin" no quotes i found 3 results try using that to rip the disk :)

Yep,another good choice is Smartripper.Dvd Decrypter has never let me down however, and is probably the best. What operating system are you using, and is the dvd clean, and not badly scratched?Oh,and what model dvdrom are you using to rip with?Default settings of Dvd decrypter should work.

You might want to post at another site, since this an odd problem. The creator of Dvd decrypter frequents the forum below.

Thx for all those info, I'm working on XP and use default configuration (I don't feel like being good enough to change those yet ;-)).

I tried "dod speed ripper" and I managed to get a ripped version of it, but without any menu, bonus, ... all those showed errors when tryong to rip them and I had to skip those files, is it normal ?

Sorry Tich,I am at a loss here.Never had problems like that when ripping an original Dvd movie. Sounds like one for the experts.

Sounds like you have a scratched or damaged DVD. Get a tissue soaked in some alcohol (not the drinkable type !!!) and throughly clean the disk. Fingerprits on the reading surface are not good for reading.

If your able to read part way through the DVD then you have no problems with your ASPI layer. If you did you wouldnt have gotten this far.

strange this happens with some 5-6 DVDs now .. and a new one I just received too ...

I received this when trying to rip them with dodsrwin :

ASPI COMMAND ERROR

Am I the only one who got this ?

Xp does not install a proper aspi layer. This upgrade has always worked for me.Forceaspi is used if a bad previous layer was installed(see Scarecrow's post above)It removes the aspi layer, and replaces it with a new one.

Run aspichk again, and post the log.

Something is not right here.

ok, seems like all is right this time ;)
