cookies not working

Hello my problem is my ie 5.5 does not appear to be accepting cookies!! I have the security on low and no firewall installed yet (have just done a re-format) and have all the boxes ticked in this forum ie browse board w/cookies and log on using cookies etc but still no joy this is the same I might add on other forums and places where cookies are required..I have just put in new m/b asus a7v333 and a new hard drive 100gb it seems to have happened since then anyone have any Idea is there any Microsoft certified engineers out there??? by the way when I look in cookie folder in Windows they are not in there..

Have you re-installed a popup stopper or another piece of software that blocks cookies by default?
This sort of thing catches me out every time.
:)

yes, there are microsoft certified engineers out here. not that it means much many times. try logging in to the forum and then logging out. then reboot and log in again. this will usually delete any cookies that have problems with your current (new) setup. they should then work fine.

works for me! :D

blakie no I dont have any installed yet.....netman done that makes no nevermind...its as though none are getting to the cookie folder..

here is an update to my problem..I have tried using opera as browser thats the same does not get cookies, and I also have another hard drive attached to my system which has windows 98 as operating system installed (this one has same ie 5.5 on it )and this as always worked ie allowed my cookies, and now when I boot into this one this no longer allows cookies!!!so what is different to before, the addition of new motherboard asusa7v333what do ya think guys can a mb allow you to surf and not accept cookies I dont know am pulling out what little hair I have left..have also posed this problem on the microsoft technical help forum (no one knows)..
