Converting

Hi I have a whole bunch of downloaded Divx and avi files that I was hoping to conert to SVCD as I have recently bought a DVD player that plays SVCD. I was wondering wought some good software would be to convert these files at little or no cost to myself.

So these DivX files are not AVI's?? What are they mp4's, MKV's, OGM's?

On the no cost front for AVI to SVCD you could use AVISynth (resize video to SVCD res), QueEnc (encode video), BeSweet (encode audio), bbMPEG (mux video and audio) and VCDEasy (author/burn SVCD).

Could also throw in FitCD to help with the AVISynth script and bitrate calculations.

Thats a my favorite one too for avi to svcd

Not free though. CCE basic is $58 USD. The quality of libavcodec really is not that bad.
