First of all,I think Cdrinfo is a good site.

I do get peeved off, because everytime I visit that site I get Doubleclick spyware.

I wonder if anyone else has noticed this?Adaware cleans it out of my comp.BTW.

Must admit I've found that Ad-Subtract Pro does a far better job than AdAware of finding these Ad spyware cookies, but it does make you mad when some sites that you would think might not do this stick these cookies to you. :(

For those who don’t know….

If you use IE, go to tools/internet options/security and click restricted sites, add the following where it says (add this website to the zone)
*.doubleclick.com
*.doubleclick.net
click ok
Now those double click cookies won’t be installed on your computer.
:)

If thats not bad enough just look at who they made a MOD in their forum. Lets just say I'm glad to see this forum has a lot higher standards and that's what makes it a great forum. :D

Isn't that right netman? :D
Just a note this is not meant for Tron if you look at CDRinfo's forum its obvious who it's meant for!!!! Sorry Tron if you took it that way, I didn't know you where a member of both forums.

I've blocked doubleclick and fastclick:
*.*doubleclick*.*
*.*fastclick*.* and haven't seen their stupid banners for ages

and cdfreaks.com also uses fastclick, so it's not just some porno sites that use this spyware. you know how much advertisement you kill if you block fastclick and doubleclick? I would guess at least 1 billion banners on the whole internet!

Stop Web Sites from installing Spyware, Sleazeware and Cookies on your PC

SpySites includes a database of over 1,500 known Spy/Sleaze sites and guides you through the simple process of including them in Internet Explorer's Restricted Zone and setting policies to prevent them from performing intrusive acts on your PC. By setting the policies for the Restricted sites zone to a very high level of security, you can be assured that any web sites added to the Restricted sites zone cannot do certain things which could compromise your privacy and security such as installing and/or running:

ActiveX controls

Java applets

JavaScript

Cookies

Download and installation of Desktop items

Use of email address as anonymous FTP password

Hijacking your Home page and/or Search page

Installing their "Sleazeware" without your knowledge

Internet Explorer's Restricted Zone can be extremely effective blocking these actions but Microsoft's Help file doesn't explain exactly how it works, what it does or how to use it. By using SpySites to set policies you will prevent sites from intruding on your privacy and possibly taking over your PC. Those annoying popups may still appear but their ability to set Cookies or perform other actions on your Computer will be blocked.

When database updates are released they will be available here.

Current database is 08-12-2002

Let me explain :)
DoubleClick.net is the main advertiser ...
I think they do about 40 % of all internet ads :)
That is pretty much so ... yeah, the story is:
It is pretty likely that you will hit a doubleclick ad site while browsing around, remember 40 % .. :)
So with the cookie they are able to check which sites you browse. At least they can make a little guide for every user :)
User a visits site b and c and after that site d :)
They make a little profile for you, what are users a interessts ?
Yeah, they can find out, they know what sites you are visiting .. at least 40 % of them :)
And now, the next time you visit a doubleclick net ad driven site, you will get targeted ads ...
so, if you browse CDR sites the whole day, once all the doubleclick banners will consist cdr ads, CDRs, software, burners, bla bla bla :)

I hope I told the story in a easy way :)
First doubleclick started with language dependent ads, which was pretty nice, but REAL targeted ads, as they do now ..
That sucks :(
