cd start up

when i used to put a cd in the puter it would come up with a box saying wot u want to do now like open it with paint ,word,etc now for sum reason it does nothing i have to go to the cd drive and browse it to find out wots on the disc can anyone help me get it back the way it was

Rightclick your CD icon thru explorer, pick up "properties" and there you will find a bunch of utterly useless options... that is unless some program you installed has disabled auto insert notification (which was a great thing to do).
For enabling/disabling auto insert notification, use the search button- it must have been covered in here at least 100 times.
