Can we tell if Verbatim 52x is Liteon?

I see a Verbatim 52X drive being sold and wonder if you can tell from the box if it is a LiteON? I know Cendyne shows model, but also if serial is 12 digits...no letters...it is a LiteON.

Does anyone know if Verbatim also shows s/n on box and if it shows if it is a LiteON?

TIA

Yes it is. In fact the fascia is identical to all Lite-On burners, which makes things more clear.
Thank you, but I had heard that they now have ASUS as well. Some believe that a 522452AL is LiteOn and a 522452AU is ASUS.

You can easily tell between them. The Asus has TWO buttons on the right side and two leds, while the Lite-On has one with round edges and one LED.
nevertheless, the Asus 52X is a very good drive, unlike the 40X and 48X models.

Except that my friend wants to know from outside the box if it is a LiteON.

I had an ASUS 5224 and it was OK. Actually wrote cd-rw's faster than the Liteon.

However, there were more Yellows on the Nero Quality test. I found the write was good, but read had more soft errors. The same cd that it created would show 0 errors when tested on the LiteOn 52246S.

Also, the newest ASUS would not work with mtkflash.
