Can A101 Firmware fix DVD-RW problems

Hi Everyone!

i have a lg gsa 4081b that ever when i put a DVD-RW (i try a princo and a powerdisc) on the drive, locks the Nero and sometimes even the Windows Xp. I just can´t use the DVD-RW's to test my video backups before burn.
I ask to you: could the A101 firmware solve this?

Do you have any type of packet writing software (DirectCD, DLA, InstantWrite ...) installed?

And did you tried disabling Windows' native burning engine called IMAPI? read there "how to": http://www.dvdrbase.com/showthread.php?t=32137
