burning undying with crack

I have the game and the crack and it works perfectly well, but I was just wondering if there was anyway that I could put the game onto a cd so that it would install with the crack as well. Is that at all possible? The little bit that I have tried didn't work at all, but I really didn't try too hard. Any suggestions?

Hey, its me again :D

So you tried to copy the cracked Undying.exe into the original and burned it right?! If only it were that easy!

Sadly Safedisc copy protection is actually more than just bad sectors. The game.exe also has a copy protection which needs to be present in the install process. Your burner is actually copying this properly, otherwise you would get an install error. Once you have installed however, its fairly easy to patch that game.exe so that it won't look for the CD to check for bad sectors (which you are not copying properly).

There used to be a few proggies that could patch Safedisc 1 image (and even some early SD 2) before you burned, but Macrovision (its creator) learned from this mistake.

I know you really want to copy this one man (I've felt this way before :( ), but the best way is to purchase a burner that is proven to do Safedisc 2 copies.

:( :( :( I was really hoping that I would be able to do this one. I'm sure you'll understand. This is actually the first disc that I have been unable to burn. But I am still relatively new to burning. I seem to have gotten pretty good at it though. Anyway...

I was also wondering if you new the prices of those drives that can copy SafeDisc2. I think Asus makes one and BTC makes one and Sony has a couple. Is that right? Do you know of anyplace where I could find a review of those drives?

Thanks again for everything though man. I have learned a ton about burning in the past week or so. And practically everything I know I picked up from this forum. So thank you everyone. It is so cool to be a part of this community. Thanks y'all.

Hi Nawlej. The Liteons 12102B 16102B 24102B and the new 32X writer are the best choices riight now,Make sure you get the right model#.They will do all Safedisc2 versions at the present time. Many other writers are disabled by the newest versions of SD2.Those are the drives to consider.;)

Nawlej...I agree with Woody. Liteons are good SD2 burners at a great price. Sony's are pretty good (check for SD2 capability), but stay away from BTC.

You live in Colorado right? You should be able to find Liteons pretty easily at CompUSA or Circuit City (sometimes). Better yet, buy one on-line, plus you'll save some money. Just checked Pricewatch.com The 24x burner is about $90.00 and the 32x is about $110.00 Stay away from OEM...get retail boxed versions with full warranty.

Good luck

I know this may sound stupid, but I just have to be sure. Is the LiteOn 32x drive is able to write correct EFM encoding of regular bit patterns? The only reason that I ask is because it isnt on the the list at Elby's site. I guess I would assume that it can write them correctly, since you mention them, but I just wanted to be sure. Thanks.

From Cdrinfo tests:
On the other hand, the produced backup from LiteOn LTR-32123B did work in many drives we tested. Therefore the LiteOn 32x model can produce SD2 working backups.

This is a newer drive,so not much info yet.The 24102B is definitely still writing even the newest SD2 versions like found on MOHAA.That's perfect, without AWS.;)

So, do you think that the 32x is worth the purchase? I mean, most discs aren't even supposed to be compatible with that fast of a write speed. So, do you think I would be better off getting a 24x?

All I can say is that the 24X is a proven winner. It is confirmed. The difference in writing games will only be seconds in difference 30-45 approx.between 32X and 24X I believe..

The 32X and 40X,new Liteon are supposed to do SD2 also.

I don't want to tell you to get something I can't prove.Maybe some people with the 32 and 40X will reply.

For nawlej:

Hey bud if you haven't already purchased a SD2 burner....

Best Buy (which I believe is in Colorado) has a sale on Plextor 24x10x40 (PX-W2410TA) for $129.99 until 3/16/02.

A really good deal on what is considered a top of the line SD2
verified burner!
