burning dvd movies

Its not the length of the movie in hr & min that matters, its the size of the files. But as the Poacher said, about 15min for a full DVD (4.37gig)

Thanks for your replies. One more thing, what does this new hyper threading technology with 800 mhz front side bus do? Does it make my single application run faster or is it for multiple apllications only? Thanks again.

A NOTE HERE.... is that if you think that 4x is slow going with a DVDRW ... first consider this fact ...... YOU ARE BURNING 4.7gb of data in 15 mins ....

Compared to burning 700mb of data with a cdrw @ 4 x will take around 30+mins !!!     :(

No need to be an expert at MATHS here is there :)

Not a perfect calculation... 150k (= CD-R @ 1X)*4=
600k/sec, and for 700 MB disk it is 19.44 minutes (+ the leadin/leadout burning time, which both sum to about one minute). Still much slower than any analogous DVD burning speed.

ok i did state AROUND .......

For the less technical out there ..... you have to take into account what system (specs etc) you are using what you are doing with the system at the same time as burning ... what processes you have running and if you use BURN proof or not and how big your burners buffer is and how smoothly the data is sent to the burner :)

Are all factors that can influence writing speeds/duration ... and have to be taken into consideration when burning disks ....also what data types you are burning can also increase/reduce burn times :)
