burnatonce 0.99.5 Released

From the various charts, it seems there is less bad DVD+R media then DVD-R - possibly a reflection of the lower popularity, or that it was second to the table.

Some cheaper drives tended to be +R, and while the makers moved to +/-, the newer models tend to be rather fussy eaters when it comes to DVD-r media.

The +R camp have been first to push the speeds ... 8x +R, 4x -R - only now are the 8x both drives making significant progress.

If you have a dual drive, and it's happy with reasonably priced media (that happens to be -R), why pay more for +R ?

There is a price span in both - and if Ritek orange (-R) and Ritek purple (+R) are directly comparable, then +R could be said to be dearer

Agreed, sorry but IMHO the new version is a backwards step and dare I say it ..... the prog has missed the target.
Oh well you can't keep everybody happy.

In Jamie's words...

"Some problematic features have been removed from this release since they have proved too time consuming to fully correct. Hopefully, these will reappear in a later release but the priority is to have as few bugs as possible for burnatonce 1.0."

Many peeps out there were chomping at the bit for BAO support of SPTI enabled ProDVD for dvd writing. So Jamie spent a great deal of time on that. He just didn't have enough time for it all. Remember, he is like most of us and is constrained with his "day job." I guess he could have released the version with the "bugs" intact, but then again there would have been complaints about that.

Remember that in his last last version, he stated no more DVD support. Now, with this version (and ProDVD), a great deal more of you can burn with the added pleasure of DVD+R/W.

So I guess you have to ask yourself... do I need the old features or the new. I don't think there is a wrong answer here... the answer is yours to decide. Nevertheless, he is open to feedback and perhaps he will bring back some of those beloved features in version 1.0... without the bugs.

I for one am grateful for Jamie and all the time he puts in this this still great proggie. Still amazed that this proggie is freeware

as long as the proggie is running fine,& the dao developers r puttin their effort 4 the development ,i'm fine with it ;)
