Browser trouble

Forgive me if this is the wrong section, but I couldn't figure out anywhere else to put it. I upgraded to Opera 8.0 a month or so ago, and I've noticed that there are a few sites that it ran fine before that will now cause it to crash, the main culprits seem to be a Sims forum and oddly enough, Neopets. They both work fine with IE or Firefox, so this has got me rather curious. Anyway, this is what I get after the "opera has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down"

OPERA caused an invalid page fault in
module OPERA.DLL at 0177:67b26d44.

Anybody know what the *bleep* is going on with my pc this time?

Babe, i have no probs with build 8.01 7624 of Opera, do U have Sun Java installed, inkow java 1.5.0.2 was on that dics i sent U, i'll do another one with the latest java 1.5.0.3 :)

I think it might be a javascript error or maybe a flash error, on the cd in the browser folder is a folder called FlashShock, in there is the newest flash plugin & shockwave plugin :)

Javascript error, probably?
Do you use an Opera fullpack (incl. java) or an external JRE installation?
I'd prefer JRE 1.4.2_08, the code is more polished than 1.5.0_update3.

This was an external Java installation, 1.5.0.3. I think (emphasis on think) that there may have been a version with Java in it on that disk, but not 100% which it is. I'll do a bit of digging, see if I can find that one. *pauses to beat up her keyboard, as the backspace key keeps sticking*

try jre 1.4.2_08 from here :)

look for Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language (j2re-1_4_2_08-windows-i586-p.exe

and get that version and then see how you get on :)

Babe, it was version 1.5.0.2 on that cd i just checked :)

Would be an idea to use flashget to download the java that Viper gave a link for, that way if Ur dialup craps out on U, U can resume it no probs :)

@scarecrow, i thought it was advisable to update the the latest to plug any security holes?

Okay, at the moment it seems fine, I uninstalled opera and java, put version 7.54u2 on and reinstalled Java and it seems to have done the trick, but I'll go ahead and get the newest JRE the now to be sure.

There are days when I wonder if I really do need glasses. *throws her keyboard across the room* This sticking key is driving me nuts.

Glad it seems to be workin ok babe, U will need to unistall the java U installed to install the newest one

1.4.2_08 and 1.5.0_update3 are structurally different... but both are "plugged".
1.5.0 series are still marred with the infamous "NIO error" which makes a few apps behaving erratically.
